Introduction to Aori's feed-based search campaign builder

What is Aori's Ecom tool

The tool helps people with ecommerce shops to scalably create product-specific search ads in Google and Microsoft Ads. It does this by giving users the ability to utilize their ecommerce shop's product information to create ads and keywords.

For example, if an ecommerce shop owner would like to create search ads for their 1k+ products, the manual approach of writing out keywords and ads for each product would be very time consuming. With Aori, it is easy to connect the ecommerce shop or even a custom file of product information to Aori, and then use the product attributes to build keyword formulas and ad templates. With this approach, search campaigns for even the largest shops can go from setup to up and running in minutes, not hours like it would take with a traditional approach.

Take a look at this simplified example of how Aori is working:

Here the feed is just three produts and attributes like name, brand, price and URL and used to take one ad template to create three highly-focused ads. In the example, the content between the squiggly brackets {} is dynamic content from the feed being inserted into the ads.

Why does it exist

When marketing a shop, running search ads by themselves or in addtion to Shopping ads is a standard practice. Furthermore, Google's recent decision to to make it free for merchants to sell on Google by making the search results on the Google Shopping tab primarily of free listings, makes Shopping Ads stand out less and requires shops increase their search ads presence.

How does it work

Basically there are three steps: 1.) connect the ecommece shop 2.) clean the product feed and build custom segments 3.) build the marketing campaing(s) using the product information in the feed. That is broken down further below.

1. Connecting an ecommerce shop

To begin, Aori needs data from an ecommerce shop. Aori supports a continually growing list of ecommerce platofmrs, including Shopify, Woocommerce, BigCommerce, Wix, Squarespace, 3dCart, Prestashop, and any custom files that are CSV, JSON or XML (both static files and via URL).

When a shop is connected to Aori, there is a live link created between Aori and the shop which allows Aori to keep the marketing campaigns associated with that shop, up to date. For example, if a product in the shop runs out of inventory, Aori can pause all ads related to that product; or, if new products are added to the shop, Aori can make new ads based on the keyword formulas and ad templates built later. This ensures the marketing campaings are up to date and 100% reflecting the content of the shop!

2. Cleaning the product feed and building custom segments

Once the feed is connected, it is possible to create custom attributes and segments.

Attributes are what describe the products in the shop (think of a feed like a spreadsheet: rows are products and attribtues are the columns). An exmaple custom attribute could be for a sale, where the shop owner would like to show 20% discounted prices in the ads. In this case, it would be possible to create a new attribute which would be the price attribute muiltiplied by .2, resulting in a calculated sale price attribute that could be used in ads. The possibilites for the application of this are endliess.

Segments are like a specific group of products from a shop. For exmaple, if there is a shop selling shoes, t-shirts and jeans and the shop owner would like to create a marketing campaign just for jeans. In that case, it would be possible to filter the product feed to make a segement of just jeans, and then use that segment to build the marketing campaign. Segments make it easy to make campaigns for some products in the store, and not all, for a more tailored approach to marketing campaigns.

3. Building the marketing campaigns

Aori is a feed-based campaign builder, which means that the content of the product feed can be inserted into the keywords and ads. Products in a feed typically have lots of attributes (30-100) and in Aori these attributes can be used to build keywords and ads that are unique to each product.
