TikTok, Shopify combine forces with new ecommerce offering

TikTok has partnered with Shopify to create an enticing ecommerce platform for advertisers and merchants.

Beyond the headlines surrounding COVID-19, 2020 has been the year of ecommerce.

Practically all the major ad platforms are adding features to help creators sell products online.

Last week, YouTube started testing product tags with its creators which will eventually lead to a more comprehensive shopping experience on the app.

Now TikTok has made the next big move.

In a post on their official blog this week, TikTok announced a partnership with Shopify designed to transform the popular video-sharing app into a powerful ecommerce platform.

Here's what the partnership will entail for TikTok:

1. TikTok integrations with Shopify

Merchants on Shopify will now be able to create and run TikTok marketing campaigns directly from the Shopify dashboard. Merchants will also get access to the main features of TikTok's ad manager, including the ability to create audiences, set conversion goals and track performance.

2. Introducing the TikTok Pixel

Anyone who has run ads on Facebook will likely be using the Facebook Pixel. TikTok will now have its own pixel, which will make it easier for Shopify merchants to track conversions from their TikTok campaigns.

3. $300 ad credit

To spice up the deal and get merchants advertising on the platform, TikTok is offering $300 in ad credit for anyone who is new to the app and gets started creating their first campaigns.

In particular, user-generated content is kind on TikTok. Short videos that are easily sharable. If your video content looks like an ad and is out of place, it most likely will not do well.
