URL tracking and tracking templates

How to manage URL tracking in Aori

URL tracking parameters are used to understand how users got to your website. To achieve this, UTM parameters or any other kind of data can be added to the URLs of the ads. This can be added via the final URL in Aori on the ad templates or later in the ad platforms using the tracking templates forms.

In Aori

The simplest approach to manage URL tracking parameters for ads is in Aori. This can be done on the Ad Builder step by entering the URL with the parameters already set up into the final URL field of the ad templates. Google's Campaign URL Builder can be used to help add UTM parameters to the URL.

In the ad platforms

Tracking templates are where you put information relevant to tracking the performance of your campaigns in the ad platform and then the ad platform dynamically adds this to your your final URL. You can read more about how this is working in Google Ads and Microsoft Advertising.

Aori doesn't have a tracking template form in the interface. If this form is needed, it should instead be set up in the ad platorms after the campaign has been uploaded. Tracking templates can be set up on the ad group, campaign, or account level. This is how Aori works with each level in the case of using a tracking template form in the ad platforms:

Campaign and account: Aori will not interfere with these. They will be applied and remain untouched through any changes to the campaign in Aori.
Ad, ad group and keyword: Aori will overwrite these whenever an ad, ad group or keyword is recreated (so best not to set these up).
